Saturday marked the opening of the second of three splits for the 2022/2023 waterfowl season here in southwest Louisiana. As you know our first split was fantastic as our hunters harvested over 3000 of the fast flyers. Our hunters blasted away over the weekend with good results. Fish Facts – A Redfish and it’s black spot(s)
As you know we catch a lot of redfish throughout the entire year. They are more prolific in Fall in our area. There are many theories concerning the black spot located in the tail area. This past week during the split a few of us from the lodge and some friends headed to Lubbock Texas for a few days of R & R. hunting Sand Hill cranes as well as Canada Geese. The weather was great, the hunting was great, and we all had a super time. Thanks to Darney for organizing the trip. Next year can’t get here quick enough.

In a large sauce pan, combine corn, okra, water and salt. Bring to boiling, reduce heat. Cover and simmer 5 minutes or until vegetables are crisp-tender. Drain. Stir in tomato, onion powder and bottled hot pepper sauce. Heat through.
