This past week was one of the best ones of the year for catching speckled trout. There were a lot of trout on the smaller side up to some very solid 17 to 23 inchers that were caught on live bait and live mullet. Most all of them were caught under a popping cork. West cove fishing under diving gulls and along the ship channel around Monkey Island were hot this past week. Redfish were showing up on the south side of the weirs on cut bait and shrimp fishing on the bottom. Call toll free at 88.762.3391 and check availability now. The Leinart Family Owns 163 Mercury Engines

Those of you that know me know that I have a few old outboard motors. In fact I have one that was built the year I was born (1941) and it still runs. Included in this month’s Mercury news letter is a little story of a family that collects vintage Mercury motor and how the hoppy impacted their family. Over the years the Leinart family in Connecticut has collected over 160 of vintage Mercury outboard engines. I thought you might enjoy this little article about their passion. CHECK IT OUT

Season redfish filets with seafood seasoning and steam until flaky. In separate pot melt margarine: add onions and soften. Melt in cream cheese. Add in chives, Tabasco Sauce, lemon juice and garlic. Stir well. Break up redfish into very small flakes and stir into cheese mixture until well mixed.
Serve hot with crackers and a good bottle of red wine.
