OCTOBER FISHING PATTERN IN FULL SWING ON LAKE CALCASIEU
Our first little cold front made it through our system last Friday and cooled off the hot weather that we have had around here (it seems like) forever and everything has changed for the good. Our system is full of trout – small trout – that are pretty much being caught up and down the entire system, Captain Kirk Stansel reported that he and his people caught a limit of 60 trout on live bait and soft plastics and not one of them was over 14 inches. He said there are lots of them for the catching. This cool front is pushing the shrimp out of the marsh and the working sea gulls are beginning to show up for the fishermen. Captain Mike Bares continues to catch limits of Redfish on the south end of the lake in the marsh on live shrimp and mullet. Slot Redfish are being caught at the Cameron Jetties on the outside west on live shrimp and crack crab.

Cook pasta according to package directions, drain. Cut shrimp in half lengthwise (optional). In large skillet, cook bacon until crisp, drain. Stir in garlic and ground red pepper and cook and stir 1 minute. Add stewed tomatoes with juice and tomato sauce. Cook, uncovered, over medium heat 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add shrimp and green bell pepper. Cook about 10 minutes. Just before serving, spoon sauce over hot spaghetti
