MONDAY MORNING UPDATE

DUCK SEASON IS OPEN IN SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA AND WE GOT LOTS OF DUCKS
Great season so far for all of our duck hunters here in the marsh, All I can say is “WE GOT DUCKS” . The first 9 days have been awesome. Our hunters have harvested almost 1700 ducks from our blinds in the marsh. Our hunt is a Gentleman’s experience not anything like your grand paws hunt. No waders, no hip boots. Just ankle or knee boots. YOU NEVER GET YOUR FEET WET.  We have some openings between now and Christmas so call Tanya at 888.762.3391 let her hook you up.

AFTER THE HUNT IS A GREAT TIME TO CATCH SOME FISH
An afternoon fishing trip after Miss Tina’s gumbo can just top off your day. Fishing has been good catching Redfish and Trout under birds up in Turners bay. Live shrimp has been the best bait but in the heat of working gulls you can throw soft plastics or hard bait and have just as much fun,  Lot’s of Redfish  have been on the east bank of the lake around Basket Reef on the south end. Our fishing will remain good until we get some really cold weather.

PIT COOKED DUCK BREAST POPPERS

Many of you have asked about the duck poppers we serve during duck season. Even if you don’t eat duck take my word for it – they are GREAT

Ingredients

  • Cleaned breast of ducks
  • 2-3 slices of jalapenos per duck breast
  • Bacon slices, uncooked
  • Hackberry Rod & Gun seasoning (or Tonys)
  • Special marinating Lud sauce

Instructions

CALL THE DOCK SHOP (888.762.3391) FOR SEASONING AND LUD SAUCE

Marinate duck breasts in LUD sauce for at least 3 hours prior to assembly. After marinating fold each duck breast in half then place 2-3 small slices of jalapeno in each breast. Wrap with slice of bacon and stick a toothpick though to hold the bacon in place. Sprinkle with HR&G special seasoning and place on pre-heated pit. These are best when slightly pink in the middle. DO NOT OVERCOOK.
