WATER GREENS UP QUICKLY FOR GOOD CATCHES OF TROUT UP AND DOWN THE SYSTEM
Hurricane Barry’s fresh water never really materialized down south. Captain Brett Stansel reports good catches of trout where the green water hangs out. Earlier in the week soft plastics were good early in the morning over oyster reefs in the Yankee John area in the lake. As the green water eased down south solid trout were lured up along the rocks on both side of the ship channel at marker 69 areas. Further south around the Pilot station live shrimp and finger mullet proved the best bait for limits. Make a roux with oil and flour. Add onion, celery and cook until wilted. Add crabmeat and redfish and cook for another hour, stirring frequently. Add shrimp and cook ten more minutes. Serve over rice in soup bowls.
